Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

Here goes the first post about music.

I listen to all kind of music that sounds good to me and Rihanna is no exception. Something like a month ago she had a concert here in Belgrade and since then Rihanna mania started. People have really liked her and I hear her songs all the time on radio while driving errr. not moving in traffic jams ;) I really like her voice and her beeing cute helps too ;)

Here are a few of her vids :)

Solar Energy is getting cheaper than coal

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

Yeah, you’ve read it right, solar energy is actually getting cheaper than coal.

This startup company called Nanosolar sells it’s panels at $1 per watt.

I’d like to own a solar panel like that :)

Interestingly,  that company has ties with Google.

Read about it here.

Supernova out of nothing

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

Can supernova come from an empty space?

Scientists got puzzled.

It seems that this exploded star was not in any galaxy but formed probably from gas that was leftover when two galaxies merged / colided.

Saint Nicholas Day

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

Today, it was Saint Nicholas Day, according to Orthodox church. Here, almost everybody has a day in a year devoted to a Saint they celebrate.

I’m not religious (I’m not denying God, whatever that may be) but I respect all the religions and peoples feelings in that regard. So, I look at this as a tradiotion that should be honored.

My family’s Saint Day is Saint Nicholas Day, on December 19th. Each year, we go to my uncle’s house to celebrate. On this day we fast (no fatty food).

The day starts with a fish barbeque and at noon there is this cake/lunch we have. People come whole day long, have fun, eat fish, beans, cakes, drink vine, juices etc. It was a good day :)

Soko Banja (Hawk Bath)

Monday, December 17th, 2007

I’ve spent 2 months this summer in Soko Banja and had a great time. It’s a small tourist place in Serbia.

I went there since I had some health problems, later it turned out it was acid reflux giving me problems. Anyway, I rented a two bedroom apartment there, walked the hills, drove my yugo car on a race track they got there, seen all the restaurants… you get the picture.

I had my friend there with me, my dad…

I made a lot of videos, most of which I’ve put online on YouTube, just check out my video section :)

Here’s a vid or two :)

phpbb3 templates

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

Today I modified some templates for phpbb3 on www.yugofanclub.com

I made Serbian and English language texts for About us page, made the page and a template. Then I modified overall_header.tpl and overall_footer.tpl to include links to about.php and a link to this website.

Now, I have to do the contact us page… ;)

Also, I couldn’t make my custom language codes work in phpbb3 php pages (not my own mod pages) for some reason…
I had problems with phpbb3 caching pages… Once I figured that out I deleted the old pages from the cache dir…

VIM

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

vim is my favorite editor, I use it to programm, write texts, anything. On my desktop I use gvim, a graphical vim and I really enjoy it. But these days, I had to work remotelly via ssh and used vim from the console editing multiple files. It’s not as comfortable as the graphics version because there isn’t an easy way to use menus but I managed with :ls to list buffers and :b2 and others to change buffers.

Today I saw a Slashdot article about a book on vim, called Hacking VIM, maybe that’s just what the doctor ordered… :)

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

I’ve been writing php code for the whole day, and right now it’s 2:30 am and I’m dead tired. So I went out on a car forum website and picked up a ImageShack picture link.

When I opened the link I started laughing… it was great to see this

I feel everybody should be free to help themselves and their neighbours but when I look around I see selfish people all around…
